The Reformed Church in Schnaus in the middle Surselva is an Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons .

History and equipment

The church is first documented in 1480 under the triple patronage of Sebastian , Maria Magdalenas and Georgs . It was a branch church of St. Remigius in Falera .

On April 25, 1514, the church bailiffs were given permission to demolish the dilapidated church. The new church with three altars was consecrated on October 5, 1520. The choir dates from that time, the surrounding wall and tower probably still belong to the older stock.

With the adoption of the Reformation in 1526, Schnaus broke away from Falera and joined forces with Ilanz . From 1692 to 1865 Schnaus was an independent parish with its own pastor.

The church with a gable and hipped roof over the nave and a flat tower covered with a simple helmet is built close to the slope. In closed on three sides, with net vault decorated and by a pointed arch from the church room separate chorus are in dense composition left side of the sound-capless pulpit , the central Taufstein - at the same time communion table - and behind the organ together. The flat ceiling dates from 1937.
