Government of Andrej Babiš I

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The government of Andrej Babiš was the government of the Czech Republic from December 13, 2017 to June 27, 2018. It was a minority government consisting solely of ministers from the ANO 2011 party , which had clearly won the parliamentary elections in October . Prime Minister was party leader Andrej Babiš .

The government had to face a vote of confidence in parliament within 30 days. This was initially planned for January 10, two days before the presidential election , but was postponed until after the election. Babiš, who was commissioned by President Miloš Zeman to form a government, had not previously managed to form a coalition because he ruled out cooperation with the right-wing populist SPD and the communists and all other parties did not want to join a coalition with Babiš as prime minister. Zeman sworn in the cabinet on December 13, although no parliamentary majority that would support the minority government was guaranteed. He assured Babiš of his support in the negotiations.

In the vote of confidence on January 16, 2018, the Babiš government was not confirmed. Then Babiš submitted the resignation of the government. President Miloš Zeman accepted this, but at the same time entrusted Babiš with conducting talks on the formation of a new government .
