The Regino-Gymnasium is a state school in Prüm ( Eifel ). It was established in 1852 in the buildings of the former monastery school of the Benedictine Abbey of Prüm . It is named after Abbot Regino von Prüm .

history

Initially it was set up as a high school ; It was not until 1892 that the school was expanded to include additional grades, so that the school became a grammar school . In 1927 she was awarded for the 75th anniversary of the name Reginoschule , since 1961 it bears the name of State Regino-Gymnasium .

Above all, due to the local Catholic boys' boarding school (Bischöfliches Konvikt ), which existed from 1887 to 2000 - with over 200 students at times - the grammar school was also open to children and young people from all over the Eifel, the Hunsrück, Ahr, Moselle and Nahe as well as from visited the Saarland.

Today's school operation

The Regino-Gymnasium currently offers the learning of Latin as a first foreign language together with English from the 5th grade, or the choice of French and English (Prümer model) from the 5th grade. Classes with only English as a foreign language are offered in cooperation with the local Realschule plus. The pupils of these classes can switch to the 7th grade at the Regino-Gymnasium. In addition, from the 8th grade onwards, ancient Greek is offered in the ancient language branch .

As of the 11th grade, Spanish is offered as an additional foreign language .

Partnerships exist with schools in Belgium , France , Rwanda , Sweden , Great Britain and the Czech Republic .

Since 2006 there has been a media association network with schools from the three-country corner (Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium) at the Regino-Gymnasium with a newly established media library. This is supervised in cooperation by both teachers and volunteer students and parents.

The Regino-Gymnasium has been a training school since 2010. Trainee lawyers are trained here as young teachers for the grammar school type.

In May 2015 the Regino-Gymnasium was one of the first schools in the state to be certified as the "European School of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate".
