The approx. 5 ha large Rehsener See (also Rehsenscher See in old maps ) is a lake in Saxony-Anhalt ( Germany ) near the Rehsen part of the city of Oranienbaum-Wörlitz ( Wittenberg district ).
The Rehsener See is only a few meters deep and is at an altitude of 63 m above sea level. NN . It is the most outstanding natural area in the district and is drained via the Elbe in a northerly direction into the North Sea.
The lake is a former oxbow lake of the Elbe.
The Elbe Cycle Path on or on the Neuer Wall leads through the Elbe on the northern edge of the municipality of Rehsen.
As an oxbow lake of the Elbe, it is a eutrophic shallow lake. Reeds and meadows line its banks. The Mehlgraben flows through the lake and flows into the Schönitzer See .
In 2002 this area was also hit by the floods of the Elbe . After the dike broke near Rehsen, the Schönitzer Luch was also flooded.
The lake is known as a fishing water for its abundance of fish. There are eels , perch , pike , carp , roach , tench and pikeperch in the lake.
