1903

The German Conservatives tried to get the broadest possible approval of the German electoral associations for their candidate Keyserling. The electoral assembly of the center voted in favor of support if the conservatives a) would support 2 candidates from the center in the next state election, b) would nominate one candidate from the center in the next Reichstag election and c) the elected candidate would be in favor of deleting §2 of the Jesuit Law. The Conservatives accepted these demands. Nevertheless, a minority of the center nominated Dr. Spahn as a special candidate.

There was only one ballot. The number of eligible voters was 27,746 and the number of votes cast 23,734 of which 115 were invalid. The turnout was 85.5%.

1907

The German Conservatives named District President Jarotzky as a candidate. According to the constituency agreement of the last election, the Conservatives should have proposed a candidate for the center. With reference to colonial policy (the “ Hottentot elections” were in the light of this policy) they refused to implement their promise, but named a Catholic as a sign of goodwill. However, this was not enough for the center and the center named its own candidate.

There was only one ballot. The number of eligible voters was 29,354 and the number of votes cast 26,587 of which 45 were invalid. The turnout was 90.6%.
