Substitute election 1903

After Rickert's death, a replacement had to be made. This took place on January 13, 1903. NLP, FVP and FVg agreed on the free-thinking candidate Mommsen. In return, de FVg should call for the election of the FVP candidate in the next state election. The center and the conservatives tried to agree on a common candidate. Since the common candidate Franz Lusensky was a member of the NLP and the latter had already committed to Mommsen, an agreement did not come about. The center did not nominate a candidate and called for abstention.

There were two ballots. In the first ballot, the number of eligible voters was 28,930 and the number of votes cast was 16,494, of which 118 were invalid. The turnout was 57.0%.

1912

After the Progressive People's Party had nominated Friedrich Weinhausen, the NLP supported the candidate. The conservatives, the middle class party and the center support the businessman Dentler as a common candidate. There were two ballots. In the first ballot, the number of eligible voters was 32,907 and the number of votes cast was 25,179, of which 58 were invalid. The turnout was 76.5%.

In the runoff election, the center called for abstention on the grounds that "Whether the Social Democrat Marckwald comes to the Reichstag or the friend of the Social Democrats Weinhausen, we don't care". The Conservatives shared this position after no agreement had been reached that in return for support here, the Freedom Party should support the conservative candidate Doerksen in constituency 19 (Danzig-Land). The Progressive People's Party then sharply attacked the SPD in the election campaign in order to make the differences to the socialists clear. In the second ballot there were 25,184 votes cast, of which 871 were invalid and a voter turnout of 76.5%.
