Reimar Zeller

Reimar Zeller (born September 26, 1925 in Grenchen , Switzerland ; † December 1, 2007 in Berlin ) was a German theologian and art historian .

Life

Reimar Zeller grew up in Blumberg , Black Forest, and Kaiserslautern . His father Alphons Zeller was an old Catholic pastor , he had five siblings. After graduating from high school, he was an air force soldier from 1943 to 1945 . He was captured by the Soviets, but was able to escape. Theology studies in Tübingen , Mainz and Marburg followed ; from 1950 to 1956 he had his vicariate and the first pastoral position in Hohenwerbig and Kleinmachnow / GDR. In 1950 he married the writer Eva Zeller . In 1951 the daughter Susanne was born (the daughter Maren came from Eva Zeller's first marriage).

In 1956 the family left the GDR and went to South West Africa (now Namibia), where Zeller looked after the German community in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay (as well as the Angola Germans). In 1958 the twins Cordula and Joachim were born. In 1962 the family returned to the Federal Republic of Germany , where Zeller took over the community in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel until 1974 . From 1962 to 1974 he was a member and employee of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation in Düsseldorf. Zeller then lived in Villingen (Black Forest) and Heidelberg . During the last years of his career, Zeller worked as a religious educator at various grammar schools. He was also active as a narrator and worked for numerous ecclesiastical and secular press organs. During his years in Düsseldorf, for example, he regularly wrote theological articles for the Rheinische Post . Since 1998 he lived in Berlin.
