Research priorities

Zohlnhöfer's research focuses on comparative policy analysis , political economy , party research and the analysis of processes and political content in the Federal Republic of Germany . One project deals with the change in economic policy intervention in developed democracies , which is reflected in increasing liberalization and privatization , falling corporate tax rates and budget consolidation. Another project, carried out in collaboration with Raanan Sulitzeanu-Kenan ( Hebrew University , Jerusalem ), analyzes on an experimental basis the question of whether governments are punished less for unpopular or failed measures if these measures do not fit their ideological orientation. The further development and critical empirical application of the multiple streams approach of comparative policy research, according to which politics is not to be understood as rational problem solving, but rather as the coupling of already existing political projects with newly emerging problems, is at the center of another project. Interim results of these projects have been published in leading international journals such as Comparative Political Studies , the European Journal of Political Research or the Policy Studies Journal .
