Reinhard Friedrich (* 1957 ; † April 21, 2016 in Erfurt ) was a German theater and film actor .

Life

Friedrich studied acting at the “Hans Otto” theater school in Leipzig and at the Dresden State Theater , where he completed his acting studies in 1981. In the same year, at the beginning of the 1981/82 season, he received a permanent engagement at the Erfurt Municipal Theaters . He made his debut there as Ferdinand in Shakespeare's late work The Tempest . As a theater actor, Friedrich interpreted a broad repertoire , which, in addition to Shakespeare, included German authors of the Classical and Romantic periods , turn-of- the- century theater , but also modern pieces , plays by Bertolt Brecht and contemporary theater.

Friedrich performed at the Erfurt Theater as Edgar in King Lear , Antonio in The Merchant of Venice , Philinte in Molières Der Misanthrope, Harpagon in Der Geizige , Secretary Wurm in Kabale und Liebe , von Wehrhahn in Der Biberpelz , Lopachin in Der Kirschgarten (new production 1999), McMurphy in One flew over the cuckoo's nest Vladimir in waiting for Godot (new production in 2002), Clov in Endgame , Mordred in Christoph Hein spectacle the Knights of the round table , Artur in Sławomir Mrozek play tango and as Michel Houill in carnage on . In 2003 his contract at the Erfurt Theater ended with the closure and liquidation of the Erfurt Theater.

From then on, Reinhard Friedrich worked as a freelance actor, but continued to work on drama projects for the New Theater Erfurt in the Barfüßerkirche , at the DomStufen Festival for children (in August 2010 as Larsson / Blom in Pippi Longstocking ) and in numerous summer theaters, so in performances in Waren an der Müritz at the Müritz saga or in the Köstritzer Spiegelzelt in Weimar , where he played the main role of Sganarelle in the Molière comedy The Doctor Against Will .

Since 2009/10 Friedrich has been part of the new mini drama ensemble at the Erfurt Theater, which consists of five permanent actors. In the 2009/10 season he took over Mephisto in Goethe's Urfaust at the Erfurt Theater , the first production of the new drama division. In 2011 he was the grand vizier in the children's fairy tale Kalif Storch . His later roles at Theater Erfurt included the roles of Dr. Diaforius / Dr. Purgon / Herr von Bonnefoi in The Imaginary Ill (2009/10 season), the linguist and Professor Zoltan Karpathy in the musical My fair Lady (January 2009 to June 2012), Professor Hinzelmann in the operetta Im Weisse Rößl (2010/11 season), Leopold Maria Fürst von und zu Lippert-Weylersheim in the operetta Die Csárdásfürstin (2010/11 season), the valet Penižek in the operetta Gräfin Mariza (2012/13 season; 2013/14 season), Harry Trevor in the musical Kiss Me, Kate ( 2014/15 season) and the news anchor in Evita (2015/16 season).

In November / December 2015 Reinhard Friedrich was also on the studio stage in the Christmas fairy tale production of the Erfurt Theater; he played the emperor in the emperor's new clothes .

In addition to his theater work, he appeared as a reciter and with his own reading evenings.

Reinhard Friedrich was also seen in some, mostly smaller, film and television roles. In the GDR television film Berlin, Here I Am (1982) he played Detlef "Detti" Kallinger, a locksmith from the Harz region . He also had roles in the television film Three Days in April (1995) and, under director Volker Schlöndorff, in the movie The Silence after the Shot , which premiered in February 2000 at the Berlin International Film Festival . In 2015, Friedrich was also seen in the multi-part TV series Deutschland 83 .

Friedrich died in April 2016 at the age of 59. According to the Erfurt Theater, he succumbed to a serious illness.
