Reinhard Schmidt-Rost

Reinhard Schmidt-Rost (born March 5, 1949 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a Protestant pastor , graduate psychologist and emeritus professor for practical theology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn .

After graduating from Görresgymnasium in Koblenz in 1967, he studied at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn , at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen from 1967 to 1974 . In 1971 Reinhard Schmidt-Rost passed the first theological exam. This was followed by a degree in psychology. In 1975 Schmidt-Rost wrote a diploma thesis in psychology. From 1974 to 1986 he worked at the Tübingen Chair for Practical Theology with Professor Dr. theol. Dr. med. Dietrich Rössler. He received his doctorate in Protestant theology in 1979. The subject of his dissertation was: "Annunciation in Protestant Journals" . The work evaluated Christian journalism as sources.

From 1979 to 1981 Schmidt-Rost was parish administrator in the parish of Eckenweiler- Ergenzingen of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg . In 1986 he completed his habilitation in practical theology. The title of the habilitation thesis was: “Pastoral care between office and profession” .

From 1986 to 1987 Schmidt-Rost worked as a university pastor in Tübingen . From 1987 to 1993 he was parish priest in Stuttgart in the evangelical parish Rohracker auf dem Frauenkopf . In 1992 he received a professorship for practical theology at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel ; at the same time he was also a university preacher. Schmidt-Rost has been Professor of Practical Theology and University Preacher at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn since the winter semester 1999/2000 .

In 2016 he retired.
