Reinhold Boie (born March 21, 1831 in Danzig ; † May 17, 1907 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian local politician, 1869–1877 Lord Mayor of Bromberg and 1877–1897 of Potsdam as well as a member of the Prussian mansion .

Life

Boie grew up in Gdansk, studied law and graduated in 1857. He began his professional career as a court assistant in Puck , and since 1864 as a judge in the district court in Karthaus . From 1864 he worked as a lawyer and notary in Tiegenhof , where he was also elected as a city councilor and at the Marienburg District Court .

In 1868 he moved his office to Bromberg , where he was elected mayor in 1869. His first local political success was the establishment of the Agricultural Institute, the forerunner of today's University of Bromberg . However, this was controversial because the Polish MPs in the Prussian state parliament demanded a university in the provincial capital of Poznan . Boie resigned on April 30, 1877, well before the end of his 12-year term, and moved to Potsdam as second mayor .

Boie was introduced to his post as second mayor of Potsdam on May 25, 1877. Just one year later he was appointed mayor to succeed Alexander Beyer , who died in February 1878 , and was appointed to the manor house as his city representative. Boie drove the development of the city, among other things through the acquisition of the waterworks by the city (1890), the construction of the city slaughterhouse (1894), the completion of the sewerage through the construction of a sewage station (1895) and the establishment of the Meteorological Institute the Telegrafenberg , which began its observation service in 1893. In 1890 Boie was confirmed as Lord Mayor for another 12 years. In 1897 he resigned at the age of 66. In recognition of his successful service to the city, Reinhold Boie was made an honorary citizen of Potsdam . He died on May 17, 1907 in Potsdam.
