Hermanni ( Swedish Hermanstad ) is the 21st district ( Finnish kaupunginosa ) of the Finnish capital Helsinki .
The district borders on the Toukola district to the north, Sörnäinen in the south and east and, separated by the Hämeentie , on Alppiharju , Vallila and Kumpula in the west . Together with Vallila, Hermanni forms a district ( peruspiiri ), which is also called Vallila. The district is named after the baron Herman Standertskjöld-Nordenstam . Originally, wooden houses were built in Hermanni from the 1880s onwards, but these were later increasingly replaced by brick and concrete buildings in the 1950s and 1960s. Especially in the south of the district, new, modern houses have recently been built.
Politically, Hermanni is a stronghold of the Greens and the left. In the parliamentary elections in 2011, the Green Bund and the Left Alliance each received 19.8%, the Social Democratic Party 19.3%. The National Collection Party with 16.9% and the Basic Finns with 12.7% followed in the other ranks.
