Eira is a sub-area ( Finnish. Osa-alue ) and at the same time a district ( kaupunginosa ) of Helsinki . Eira is located south of the city center on the Vironniemi peninsula . There are many villas and the embassies of many countries in the area. The name of the Eira hospital, built in the 19th century, is derived from that of the Nordic goddess of medicine, Eir .
