Oulunkylä ( Swedish Åggelby ) is a district ( kaupunginosa ) in the north of the Finnish capital Helsinki . The sub-areas Pirkkola, Maunula, Metsälä, Patola, Veräjämäki, Maunulanpuisto and Veräjälaakso are subordinate to the district. The statistical municipality ( peruspiiri ) Oulunkylä consists of the sub-areas Patola, Veräjämäki and Veräjälaakso while the remaining sub-areas form the municipality Maunula.
Clockwise, Oulunkylä borders the other districts of Pakila , Pukinmäki , Malmi , Viikki , Koskela , Käpylä , Pasila , Haaga and Kaarela .
The district is characterized by multi-storey buildings from the late 1980s. However, there are also some older wooden villas from the 19th century. There are larger green spaces along the Vantaanjokis , which forms Oulunkyläs' eastern border, north of Patola, west of Maunula (Maunulanpuisto Park) and south of Metsälä.
