Reinhold Breu (born September 12, 1970 in Deggendorf ) is a former German soccer player and today's soccer coach and soccer official. He is the Technical Director of the Luxembourg Football Association .

Career

player

Breu came in 1996 from 1. FC Köln for FK Austria Vienna . From January 1998 he played at First Vienna FC 1894 for six months before moving to Eintracht Trier . In 2000 he joined Wacker Burghausen . Two years later he ended his active career there.

Breu completed 6 international matches for the U-16 national team . He belonged to the squad of the BFV selected players and made it to the 2nd Bundesliga with Wacker Burghausen in his active career . He took part in the UEFA Cup with Austria Wien and was inducted into the BFV Hall of Fame for his “special services to football” .

He has been a qualified sports manager since 2003 and has had the UEFA Pro license since 2006.

Trainer

Breu holds the UEFA Pro license . After having worked as a coach for the BFV and the DFB since the end of his playing career , he became junior coordinator at SSV Jahn Regensburg in 2004 . In 2008 he took over this role at Eintracht Trier .

Breu has been Technical Director of the Luxembourg Football Association since 2011 and is therefore also responsible for the talent development program and coach training. Under his leadership, youth education was centralized on the French model; Young people train in the youth national teams during the week and only stay at their clubs on weekends. In addition, many young players moved abroad. The training at the association's own academy in Monnerich also includes influences from the Spanish training for young talent and from coaches such as Antonio Conte , Diego Simeone and Pep Guardiola .

The Luxembourg U15 national team has defeated Turkey (4: 1) and Belgium (4: 2) since Breus took over as Technical Director (as of July 28, 2018); The Luxembourg U18 also managed to beat their neighbor from Belgium, with Breu acting as coach. The Luxembourg senior team has beaten Greece and Albania since November 2016 ; In addition, the team achieved a 0-0 win against France in the World Cup qualification in Toulouse in September 2017 .
