For many years it was in Leben Sing Fighting , the songbook of the FDJ. There are various adaptations of the text, for example by Heinz Kahlau . It has also been used in over 40 films, leading to an entry in the Guinness Book of Records in 1994 .

Awake next to youth! Limberg composed, for example, the song of the naval comradeship for shanty choirs and many about the heathland. He also wrote about 70 poems.
