Reinhold Schlothauer

Reinhold Schlothauer (born February 12, 1948 in Eschwege ) is a German defense lawyer and legal scholar .

Life

Schlothauer studied law from 1967 to 1972 at the Universities of Marburg and Bonn . 1976 doctorate Schlothauer at the University of Bremen on the topic On the crisis of the constitutional jurisdiction and since the same year at the Bremen Regional Court as a lawyer admitted. In 1982 he was admitted to the bar at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen . He has been teaching at the University of Bremen since 1988 and has been honorary professor there since 1994 . Schlothauer is also a member of the Criminal Law Committee of the Federal Bar Association and a member of the Advisory Board of the Criminal Law Institute of the German Bar Institute.

Schlothauer was licensed as a specialist lawyer for criminal law and is a member of the Bremen law firm Joester & Partner . Among other things, he worked as a criminal defense lawyer in the criminal proceedings following the bankruptcy of Bremer Vulkan AG, a large shipyard in Bremen, and in the process surrounding the accident at the Emsland Transrapid test facility on September 22, 2006.

As a scientist, he deals with criminal law and criminal procedure law as well as criminal policy in Europe. Schlothauer wrote, partly as a co-author, several specialist books, especially on criminal defense , some of which were issued with several editions. He also wrote several articles for the Munich lawyers' handbook on criminal defense . In 1980 he co-founded the legal journal criminal defense attorney , of which he has been an editor since then.

Honors

  • 2001: Max Alsberg Prize of the Association of German Criminal Defense Lawyers V .; together with Klaus Lüderssen and Hans-Joachim Weider for their long-term commitment to the editorial team of the criminal defense law journal .
