Reinhold Weier

Reinhold Weier (born February 6, 1928 in Fulda ; † October 27, 2009 in Trier ) was a German Catholic theologian and dogmatist .

Life

Weier graduated from the Domgymnasium in Fulda in 1946 . He studied philosophy and catholic theology in Fulda and Würzburg . In Würzburg he received his doctorate in 1951 with a dissertation in Latin for Dr. phil. He was ordained a priest on July 19, 1953 by Johannes Baptist Dietz and initially worked as a chaplain in Anzefahr near Kirchhain, and from 1956 in St. Johannes (Kugelkirche) in Marburg . In 1961 he was given leave of absence to work as a research assistant at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , where he received his doctorate in Catholic theology in 1965 and qualified as a professor in 1968 with a thesis on "Martin Luther's understanding of theology". On July 3, 1968, he received the professorship for Dogmatics and the History of Dogma II at the Trier Theological Faculty , from which he was retired in 1996.

His grave is in the St. Paulin cemetery .

Weier's brothers were also active in higher education.

  • Winfried Weier (born April 26, 1934 in Fulda; † October 5, 2013 in Reichenberg (Lower Franconia)) was a professor at the universities of Salzburg (1967–1999) and Würzburg (1972–1999) in philosophy and was awarded the New Year's Eve .
  • Josef Weier (* March 17, 1927; † December 3, 2009) taught mathematics at the University of Bonn from 1965 to 1992. He was a member of the German Aerospace Society .
