Reinmar Henschke

Reinmar Henschke (born June 17, 1959 in Halle / Saale ) is a German pianist and composer . He works in the fields of jazz , rock , improvised music , as well as theater and film music .

Biographical

Henschke received his first piano lessons at the age of six. He received church organ lessons at the church music school in Halle. Although he passed the entrance exam for the organ at the Leipzig University of Music, he decided to study classical piano and composition at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . In 1981 he finished his studies and started to work as a professional musician. In the 1980s Henschke lived in Weimar . Here he was a member of the band Prima Klima, which later became the Acoustic Art Trio. Henschke was on tour with Schlingelhof & Band in Poland, Hungary and the ČSSR and in 1987 won the jazz pianist competition in Kalisz (Poland). His interest in composing for the theater was reflected in music for the stages in Leipzig (The Little Prince), Weimar (Kikerikikiste) and Döbeln (The Fox and the Grapes).

The collaboration with Jens Saleh and Mario Würzebesser, with the singer Pascal von Wroblewsky and the saxophonist Volker Schlott came about through contacts with the Berlin jazz scene . Henschke has lived in Berlin since 1989. In addition to his work as a musician, he works as a piano teacher at the Kreuzberg / Friedrichshain Music School. In 1990 he toured Sweden with Saleh and Würzbesser and recorded the record Interlude . A major West Africa tour followed with Pascal von Wroblewsky and Thomas Klemm . In 1994 he composed his percussion project for percussion , cello and jazz trio for the Kunstfest Weimar . This was followed by an appearance with Pascal von Wroblewsky and Falk Breitkreuz at the jazz festival in Beijing and the music for the documentary Dream Destinations Japan (1995). The collaboration with Ulla Meinecke from 1997 to 2002 brought many appearances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He also wrote music for films and theater again and again, carried out his own projects with his trio with Paul Kleber , bass, and Rainer Winch , drums, and worked with Volker Schlott and Bernhard Meyer, bass. Since 2010 Reinmar Henschke has also performed with the Nina Hagen rock band and other musicians from the rock and jazz scene.

Henschke has released many recordings in various formations under his own name and has worked with just as many with other musicians of various genres .
