Reitscheid is a part of the Saarland municipality of Freisen in the St. Wendel district . Until the end of 1973 Reitscheid was an independent municipality.

As part of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland , the previously independent municipality of Reitscheid was assigned to the municipality of Freisen on January 1, 1974.
