René Osvaldo Rebolledo Salinas
René Osvaldo Rebolledo Salinas (born September 22, 1958 in Cunco , Región de la Araucanía , Chile ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of La Serena .
Life
René Osvaldo Rebolledo Salinas studied from March 1978 philosophy and theology at the Seminary of San Fidel in San José de la Mariquina and received on 25 August 1984, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After working as a parish priest, he continued his studies in Italy and was awarded a doctorate theologiae . From 1993 Rebolledo was rector of the San Fidel seminary . From 1994 to 2000 he was President of the Organization of the Chilean Seminars. In December 2002 he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Villarrica .
On May 8, 2004, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Osorno . The Archbishop of Santiago de Chile , Cardinal Francisco Javier Errázuriz Ossa , donated him episcopal ordination on June 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Villarrica, Sixtus Josef Parzinger OFMCap , and the Bishop of Rancagua , Alejandro Goić Karmelić . Within the Chilean Bishops' Conference, Rebolledo is President of the Episcopal Commission for Seminars and the Commission for Liturgy. He is currently Vice President of the Bishops' Conference.
Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of La Serena on December 14, 2013. In November 2016, Chilean media saw him as a possible successor to Ricardo Ezzati Andrello in the office of Archbishop of Santiago de Chile.
