René Rottenfluc

René Rottenfluc (born December 19, 1900 in Beaumesnil , Département Calvados , † April 8, 1962 in Paris ) was a French wrestler . He became the European featherweight champion in free style in 1929 .

Career

René Rottenfluc started wrestling as a teenager in Paris. In 1919 and 1920 he was the featherweight champion of Paris in the Greco-Roman style. In 1921 and 1922 he did his military service in the French army and was a. a. stationed as an occupation soldier in Hamburg. He could not practice his sport during this time.

After completing his military service, he took up his sport again from 1923. He was multiple master of Paris in both styles (Greco-Roman and free style) and from 1923 to 1929 six times French master in the Greco-Roman style and five times in the free style.

In 1924 he started at the Olympic Games in Paris in the Greco-Roman style in featherweight. But he lost there against Osvald Käpp from Estonia and Fritjof Svensson from Sweden and only reached 18th place.

In 1925 René Rottenfluc started at the European Championships in Milan in the Greco-Roman style. He won there in featherweight against Riccardo Pizzocaro from Italy and then lost to Ernst Steinig from Germany and Jenö Nemeth from Hungary and took 6th place in the final bill. In 1927 he represented the French colors in Paris in an international match against Switzerland, defeating his rival Crausax. In 1927 he competed at the European Championships in Budapest. In featherweight he defeated Muhsin from Turkey in the Greco-Roman style, but lost his next two fights against Martin Egeberg from Denmark and against Ludwig Schlanger from Austria. These results earned him 5th place.

In 1928 René Rottenfluc started at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam. He wrestled there in free style in featherweight, but lost his two fights, which he had to deny, against Hans Minder from Switzerland and against Kustaa Pihlajamäki from Finland. With these results, he took 4th place in the final, along with other wrestlers.

The last major international competition was played by René Rottenfluc in 1929. He took part in the European Free Style Championship in Paris. In featherweight he defeated H. Angus from Great Britain, Joseph Dillen from Belgium and Denis Perret from Switzerland and became European champion.
