René Unglaube (born November 6, 1965 in East Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Unbelief began at BSG Motor Köpenick with playing football, from where he moved to the youth team of 1. FC Union Berlin in 1974 . At Union he went through all youth teams before making his debut for the first men's team in the GDR league against SG Dynamo Schwerin in May 1985 . At the end of the 1984/1985 season he rose with the Unionern in the GDR upper league , where he became a regular player in the following years.

Unbelief celebrated the greatest sporting successes with Union in 1986: In addition to a surprisingly good seventh place, the "Iron" reached the FDGB Cup final against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig (which was lost 1: 5) and won in the Intertoto Cup their group. In the following two years, however, the club played against relegation, which in 1988 could only be prevented at the last minute. Unglaubes time at Union ended in the following season , when he in November 1988 in the military service of the NVA was drafted. He played his last competitive game on October 12th against HFC Chemie . Unglaube played for 1. FC Union Berlin from 1985 to 1988 in a total of 88 competitive games and scored eleven goals.

During his time in the army, Unbelief played in the GDR league club FC Vorwärts Frankfurt . There he completed a total of 21 league games and scored one goal. With the Frankfurters he missed the direct return to the league in 1988/1989 . Succeeded as this forward in 1990, disbelief was not because he in the squad in the autumn of 1989 shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall to Berlin (West) emigrating. Nevertheless, he had his share in the rise of Frankfurt with seven league appearances (without scoring). He also ran for forward in the FDGB Cup.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he joined the Berlin second division team Hertha BSC . His first game for Hertha was a friendly against his old club Union on January 27, 1990. With Hertha he was promoted to the Bundesliga in the same year . The club could not hold up there and in 1991 was relegated again. Unbelief then switched to SG Wattenscheid 09 to stay in the top division. For Hertha Unglaube played 20 games in the first (four goals) and five games in the second division (one goal).

After a year he left Wattenscheid for Berlin again, as he did not get beyond the status of a supplementary player with 14 missions (and one goal). This time in Berlin he went to Tennis Borussia Berlin . With the Borussia he reached first place in the Oberliga Nordost-Nord in 1993 and thus the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . There the Borussia were defeated by 1. FC Union Berlin, but still rose after Union's license was withdrawn due to financial irregularities. In the following season, TeBe was beaten last.

Unbelief then ended his career due to injury problems (he had two cruciate ligament tears behind him). For TeBe he was only able to play 20 league games in two years (three in the second, 17 in the regional league), in which he scored four goals (all in the regional league). At the end of the 1994/1995 season he was used again at the Berlin association division SC Gatow , but could not prevent its relegation to the state league . After that, the disabled athlete finally ended his active career.

After medical rehabilitation , he completed a three-year training as a travel agent. Since he didn't like working in a travel agency, he has been a city guide at the Berlin city tour office since 2009.
