Renaissance Hotels

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Renaissance Hotels is a global hotel chain . The trademark is owned by Marriott International . Many hotels are run by Marriott, but there are also a few Renaissance hotels that are operated by franchisees .

The chain includes predominantly 5-star hotels and resorts, including the hotels in Times Square in New York , which are particularly well-known in the USA , The Mayflower Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel (in which every US President's inauguration ball has been held since 1925 was) or the Stanford Court Renaissance San Francisco Hotel (right on Nob Hill ). There are 160 Renaissance hotels worldwide, almost half of them in the USA (as of January 2011). German hotels in this chain are located in Bochum , Düsseldorf and Hamburg . The number and distribution of hotels have fluctuated somewhat since the chain became part of Marriott. The reasons for this are internal company name changes (e.g. the former Munich Ramada Hotel was converted into a Renaissance hotel, while the existing house in Sydney now operates under the name of Marriott), new buildings (e.g. in Bangkok , Bochum) and the Handover of a house to a competitor (such as Dortmund or Goa , India and Alexandria , Egypt ).

history

Renaissance Hotels were originally founded as Ramada Renaissance Hotels in 1982 in order to be represented in the high-priced hotel market in addition to the normal Ramada hotels (usually 3 or 4 star hotels). In 1989, Ramada hospitality and franchise system was bought by New World Development Company of Hong Kong (US rights were sold to Prime Hospitality ) and in 1993 Renaissance Hotels was established as an independent brand, while the former Ramada Corp. in Aztar Corp. was renamed. In 1996 bought New World the Stouffer Hotels Co. of Nestlé and transformed it into Renaissance houses. In 1997, Marriott bought most of New World, making most of the Renaissance hotels part of Marriott. In 2005, Marriott purchased most of the remaining New World / CTF- owned Renaissance hotels in North America and Europe with the intention of selling them under long-term management and franchise agreements.
