Renate Meerwald

Renate Meerwald (born April 22, 1939 in Dresden ; † December 13, 2009 in Vohenstrauß ) was a German painter.

Life

Meerwald came to Vohenstrauss when she was four years old, where she attended secondary school. She trained as an art and crafts teacher in Düsseldorf .

In 1965 she returned to the Upper Palatinate , where she first taught at her previous school in Vohenstrauß and later at the Elly-Heuss-Gymnasium Weiden . Due to illness, she took early retirement at the age of 49 and from 1988 devoted herself to art. At that time she married and moved to Neunburg vorm Wald . After ten years of marriage she moved back to Vohenstrauss.

Initially, Meerwald painted watercolors with landscape motifs , later also more abstract compositions. She was a member of the Regensburg Art and Trade Association and the BBK Niederbayern / Oberpfalz . Her pictures were represented in the Great East Bavarian Art Exhibitions between 1997 and 2003. In addition to several solo exhibitions in the Regensburg Art and Industry Association, she also exhibited individually in the Nittenauer Haus des Gastes (1994) and in 2003 in the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus in Schwandorf .
