Renato Abreu , full name Carlos Renato de Abreu , (born June 9, 1978 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian football player . He was used in the position of an attacking attacking midfielder . His strong foot is the left one.

Beginnings

At the beginning of his career, Abreu went through various clubs in Santa Catarina . In 2000 he moved to clubs in São Paulo , the most famous station in 2001 was Corinthians São Paulo . The first successes came with the club in the first year. In April 2001 he won the São Paulo State Championship with the club . In the following year, the first national title followed with the Copa do Brasil 2002 .

CR Flamengo

Since Abreu was not a regular at Corinthians , he decided to move. He signed a contract with Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . Since there was already a player named Renato at FLA , he was called Renato Abreu ever since . Although only midfielders, Abreu scored the most goals for FLA in the 2005 championship season . Abreu was able to celebrate a national title with the club in the second year. When he won the Copa do Brasil in 2006 , he was FLA's most successful striker with six goals. He was also voted the tournament's best player. After completing the championship round in 2006 , Abreu was also elected to the league's selection team . He finished the season as the player who has been used the most by FLA (59 out of 68 possible games).

United Arab Emirates

In July 2007 Renato Abreu moved to al-Nasr Sports Club (Dubai) in the United Arab Emirates . In the following year Abreu moved to league rivals al Shabab . After three years without a title, his engagement in the UAE ended.

Return to Brazil

In June 2010 Abreu returned to his old place of work, FLA. With FLA he won the 2011 Rio de Janeiro state championship. In the same year, he was appointed to the national team. At the beginning of 2012, FLA extended the contract with Abreu until the end of 2013. This was then prematurely terminated by FLA in June 2013.

Abreu signed another contract with FC Santos until the end of the year in August of that year . Curiously, he was thereby in the championship in the two meetings of the clubs for the away team. At the end of the season Abreu ended his active career as a player.

National team

In September 2011 Abreu was appointed by national coach Mano Menezes for the Superclásico de las Américas against the Argentine national soccer team. In the two games Abreu was only on the field in the first leg on September 14th. It was his only international appearance. The game ended 0-0.
