Renato Spallanzani

Renato Spallanzani (born November 1, 1910 in Scandiano ; † May 17, 2001 ) was Bishop of Palestrina .

Life

Renato Spallanzani was ordained a priest on July 12, 1936 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on September 8, 1964 auxiliary bishop in Viterbo e Tuscania and titular bishop of Mazaca . The vicegerente for the diocese of Rome , Luigi Cardinal Traglia , donated him the episcopal ordination on October 11th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Filippo Pocci , auxiliary bishop in Rome , and Giuseppe Bonacini , bishop of Bertinoro .

He attended the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . The Pope appointed him auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Pitigliano-Sovana-Orbetello in 1967 . On April 23, 1970 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Siena and on March 18, 1972, bishop of Alghero . On October 7, 1975 he was appointed Bishop of Palestrina . On April 2, 1986, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
