Renward Cysat

Renward Cysat (born October 11, 1545 in Lucerne ; † April 25, 1614 there ) was a citizen , pharmacist , notary , councilor and town clerk in Lucerne. The father, Giovanni Battista Cesati (German: Johann Baptist Cysat) came from Milan, had immigrated to Lucerne in 1530 and received citizenship here in 1549. The mother, Margaretha Göldlin († 1586) was the Lucerne patrician daughter. The images on the Chapel arose due to Cysats initiative and program. He was also the game director , including the Lucerne Easter Games of 1583 and 1597. By Pope Gregory XIII. In 1576 he was appointed Count Palatine and in 1593 Clement VIII made him a knight . He was married to Elisabeth Bossard since 1568 and was the father of the mathematician and astronomer Johann Baptist Cysat .
