The Resolution 158 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously in the 907th meeting on 28 September 1960th It dealt with Senegal's admission as a new member of the United Nations .
background
In 1914 Senegal's first African-born MPs were sent to the French National Assembly, and in 1946 all citizens were given the right to vote. France finally gave the country independence in two stages. In 1958 it was given extensive autonomy within the French Community, and in the following year it merged with Mali to form the Mali Federation , which became independent on June 20, 1960. With Resolution 139 on June 28, 1960, the Security Council approved the Federation's accession to the United Nations, which was dissolved again on August 20, 1960 and divided into Senegal and Mali.
