The UN Security Council Resolution 147 is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously in the 891st session on August 23 1960th It dealt with the admission of the Republic of Dahomey (today Benin ) as a new member in the United Nations .
background
The Republic of Dahomey was established as an autonomous colony on December 11, 1958. Before it was granted autonomy, it was the French Dahomey colony as part of the French Union . On August 1, 1960, it gained full independence from France.

The Security Council announced that it had examined the admission of the Republic of Dahomey as a new member of the United Nations and recommended that the UN General Assembly approve its admission.
