The stately, four-storey house is on the northeast corner of Cordulaplatz, between Mittlere Gasse and Oberen Gasse. It is free-standing on three sides and has a hipped roof . The peculiar design of the façades with randomly arranged windows refers to building principles of the late Middle Ages and is based on the spatial arrangement inside. Are influenced by the early baroque the target in the main facade symmetry , profiled sills and the pointed window pediment . The latter are particularly noticeable on the first and second floors. The segmental arched (rectangular on the Mittleren Gasse) openings on the ground floor originate from a renovation in the middle of the 18th century . There are three early baroque rooms inside. These were installed around 1660/70 on behalf of the then owner Caspar Ludwig Schnorff. Strongly profiled coffered ceilings characterize the two corner rooms on the first floor. The room in the northwest corner of the second floor is particularly lavishly furnished. Its wall paneling has a blind arcade structure and is richly decorated with veneer , inlay and relief carvings. A massive corner buffet with a blind arcade, conical pilasters and drilled door panels is also remarkable . The original stove was sold at the end of the 19th century and replaced during the 1985/87 renovation.

history

The Paradies restaurant had two previous buildings, the late Gothic town houses "Paradies" and "Hasen". Shortly after 1600, both came into the possession of Schultheiss Ulrich Schnorff and his son Hans Ulrich. In the first quarter of the 17th century, the houses were connected to one another and rebuilt, whereby the new building was essentially given its current baroque appearance. At the beginning of the 18th century, "Paradise" was a meeting place for diplomats, especially during the Peace Congress of 1714 . In 1755 the Schnorff family had to sell the building and it has been used as a restaurant ever since. The building, which has been a listed building since 1947, was renovated inside in 1954, and the facade was renovated in 1966. A comprehensive renovation followed from 1985 to 1987. The restaurant rooms were rebuilt, the paneling rooms restored and the attic was expanded.
