Richard Annang (in the media also often Richard Annan ; born April 30, 1991 in Tema ) is a Ghanaian football player on the position of a defender and winger . Since 2013 he has played for the Ghanaian club Berekum Chelsea .

Club career

Career start at home

Annang began his active career in his hometown Tema , about 25 kilometers east of the Ghanaian capital Accra . There he was initially mainly active as a street footballer, but still had the opportunity to switch to the Tema Youth club when he was a youngster, where he was used for several years in the club's own youth team. After a certain time in the youth department of the club, he was accepted into the squad of the men's team of the club with play in the Ghana Premier League for the first time around 2009 , where he was trained by the Turkish-born Austrian Attila Sekerlioglu . Although nothing is known about the exact missions Annangs, he was courted by numerous international clubs at that time. For example, clubs from Dubai , Sudan , Egypt , England , France , the Netherlands , Germany and Austria were interested in the young talent in the versatile player who, in addition to various defensive positions, also appears as a midfielder and winger . However, none of the clubs could meet the price requirements of Tema Youth, which generally expected a higher transfer fee. During this time, Annang also took part in a trial training session with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in spring and early summer 2009 , where the expected transfer fee of 600,000 euros was also estimated to be too high. After another time at Tama Youth, where he was also part of the extended group of the Ghanaian national team due to his achievements there and also took part in the WAFU Cup of Nations 2010 , the youngster finally made the leap abroad in summer 2010. Before that, he completed a successful trial training session at AS Saint-Étienne in March and April 2010 , which ultimately did not bring him to the team. In January 2010 Annang should have taken part in a trial training session with Austrian Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz , but had to cancel prematurely due to an injury. In addition, clubs such as Arsenal FC and Ajax Amsterdam are said to have expressed their interest in Annang.

Change to Romania

In July and August Annang finally signed a contract with FC Vaslui with play operations in the highest Romanian football league , which were willing to pay a transfer fee of 600,000 euros, although the Romanian club was only seen as a transitional phase for the young Ghanaian. Annang finally made his league debut in Romania on August 14, 2010 in a 2-1 home win over FC Brașov , when he played from the start and was replaced by the Spaniard Alejandro Campano at half-time . For the Romanians, Annang was also in the Europa League squad against OSC Lille , where he was only on the bench. He also did this in a few league games of his team. On August 29, 2010 he was in the league game against Unirea Urziceni for the full 90 minutes before he was almost banned from the professional squad. After a short eight-minute assignment on September 25, 2010, where he also played from the start, he was not used in any competitive game of the club from Vaslui until the end of April 2011 and is only used sporadically in friendly matches. His performance has often been criticized in various Romanian media.

Return to Ghana

Annang left Romania in late 2012 and returned to his home country, where he plays for Berekum Chelsea . Due to an injury, however, it was only used once.

National team career

His career in the Ghanaian national team began in his youth when he was first brought into the U-17 team in his home country . Later he was called up to the U-19 in Ghana, for which he was also used. Due to his remarkable achievements at his then home club Tema Youth, Annang was already in focus for the 2009 African Nations Cup , in which only local players are allowed to participate. Annang was one of three left-backs on a 40-player provisional list from national coach Milovan Rajevac , but Habib Mohammed was preferred for the tournament . In spring 2010 he took part in the WAFU Cup of Nations with a national team consisting of local players and was used in all five games of his team when he reached 3rd place.
