Richard Bogosian

Richard Wayne Bogosian (born July 18, 1937 in Boston ) is an American diplomat .

Life

Richard Bogosian is a son of Armenian immigrants. He graduated from Tufts University in 1959 as a Bachelor of Arts and studied law at the University of Chicago Law School , which he graduated in 1962 as a Juris Doctor .

Bogosian joined the United States Department of State in 1962 . He worked in the Middle East and South Asia Department . From 1963 to 1965 he worked in Baghdad . After a French course, he worked from 1966 to 1968 as the American Vice Consul in Paris . Bogosian then worked in the Foreign Ministry's information and research office until 1971. In 1972 he took a further training course in economics, after which he was head of the economic section of the American representation in Kuwait until 1976 . From 1976 he was Deputy Head of the Embassy in Khartoum in Sudan until 1979 when he was appointed Head of Aviation Negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1982 he became director of the East African Affairs Office.

Richard Bogosian was the United States Ambassador to Niger from 1985 to 1988 . From 1988 to 1990 he was director of monetary affairs at the US State Department. He then worked again as ambassador from 1990 to 1993 , this time in Chad . He was then from 1993 to 1994 coordinator of the US Mission in Mogadishu in Somalia . His last position was from 1996 to 1997 as coordinator for Rwanda and Burundi in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Bogosian is married and has three children. He speaks Arabic and French .
