Richard Gonda (born March 14, 1994 in Banská Bystrica ) is a Slovak automobile racing driver .

Career

Gonda began his motorsport career in 2003 in karting , in which he was active until 2009. In 2010 Gonda switched to formula racing and finished sixth in the Central European E2 championship. He also took part in some races of the northern European Formula Renault . There he reached eleventh place in the FR2000 class, the second class of this racing series. He also made two guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for Krenek Motorsport . In 2011 Gonda started for Krenek Motorsport in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. He remained without points and finished 39th in the drivers' championship. In addition, he took part in three Northern European Formula Renault events for Krenek Motorsport.

In 2012 Gonda started the season in the Northern European Formula Renault for Krenek Motorsport. After the third event, however, he lost his cockpit. Later in 2012 , Gonda received a cockpit in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for an event . There he immediately achieved good times in training and already managed to score points in eighth place in the first race.

In 2013 Gonda switched to Drivex in the European F3 Open . With a seventh place as the best result, he achieved 18th place overall in the drivers' standings. In 2014 , Gonda received a cockpit in the newly founded Acceleration 1 formula for the Slovak team supervised by Team Ghinzani . With three podium finishes, he finished the season in third place in the overall standings. In addition, he drove two races in the Auto GP for Virtuosi .

In 2015 Gonda switched to GT racing and drove for the ART Junior Team in the Renault Sport Trophy . In the Prestige class he scored three wins and was second overall behind Dario Capitanio with 123 to 162 points . In the Endurance Trophy he won two races with Andrea Pizzitola and was also second overall. In 2016 Gonda returned to formula racing and completed three events in the GP3 series for Jenzer Motorsport .
