Richard Harnier

Richard Harnier (born June 18, 1820 in Kassel , † October 17, 1885 in Cannstatt ) was a German lawyer . Before and after the founding of the German Empire , he was a member of the Reichstag ( National Liberal Party ).

Life

Harnier attended the Friedrichsgymnasium (Kassel) . From 1837 to 1841 he studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg and the Georg August University of Göttingen . In 1841 he finished his studies in Marburg with a doctorate as Dr. iur. In the same year he became a trainee lawyer at the higher court in Kassel. In 1846 he was promoted to chief finance assessor in Kassel. In the German Revolution 1848/49 he appeared as a member of the legislative commission and speaker of the KurhessischenMinistry of Interior in the higher civil service. In 1850, after the conservative turnaround in Hessian politics, he resigned from civil service. Between 1850 and 1869 Harnier worked as a lawyer and senior court attorney in Kassel. In 1870 he became director of the Landeskreditkasse in Kassel.

From 1864 to 1870 Harnier was elected to the city council of Kassel. In 1866 he became second deputy to the mayor of Kassel.

He belonged to the Kurhessischer Estates Assembly from 1862 until it was dissolved in 1866.

Harnier was elected to the constituent Reichstag and the Reichstag of the North German Confederation in 1867 . Harnier was a member of the Reichstag of the German Empire from 1871 to 1881. He represented the constituency of Kassel 4 (Eschwege – Schmalkalden – Witzenhausen) in all parliamentary assemblies. He was a member of the National Liberal Party.
