Richard Eduard Koch , von Koch from 1908 (born September 15, 1834 in Cottbus , † October 15, 1910 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer , judge and President of the Reichsbank from 1890 to 1908 .

Life

After studying law , Koch first worked as an assistant judge at the appellate courts in Ratibor and Halberstadt from 1859 , from 1862 as a judge at the city and district court in Danzig and from 1865 as a judge at the Berlin city ​​court . There he was appointed city judge in June 1867 . From 1870 on, Koch worked as legal counsel at the Prussian Bank before moving to the Reichsbank. There he rose to the office of Reichsbank Vice President, which he held from 1887 to 1890. Subsequently, the office of Reichsbank President was transferred to him. In August 1886 the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg awarded Koch an honorary doctorate (as Dr. jur. Hc ). In 1891 he was appointed crown syndicate , which was accompanied by a lifelong membership in the Prussian manor house . Finally, in August 1893, he was appointed to the Real Privy Council and in 1903 he was made an honorary citizen of his native city .

The German Reichsbanknotes from 1891 to 1907 bear his signature. With his retirement (1908) he was raised to the nobility .

Koch published various lectures and essays, mainly from commercial and bill of exchange law.

Richard von Koch died in Berlin in 1910 at the age of 76 and was buried in the Old St. Matthew Cemetery in Schöneberg . The grave has not been preserved.
