Richard Javier Morales Aguirre (born February 21, 1975 in Las Piedras ), nickname El Chengue, is a former Uruguayan football player. He played in the position of the striker.

Club career

Chengue , who is 1.95 meters, 1.96 meters or 1.98 meters tall, depending on the sources, is the fifth-born child of the carpenter Conrado and his wife Gladys who worked in a sawmill. He has two brothers and three sisters. The family's financial situation often meant that the parents lacked the money to buy Morales football boots, who grew up in his native Las Piedras, or to finance the trips that would have been incurred in connection with a club membership in baby fútbol . He started with the baby fútbol at the age of six in the association La Llama in Las Piedras. According to his own information, he played there as a central midfielder. For the last year in baby fútbol he moved to Nacional. But since the fare could not be raised, he then played again in Las Piedras. After a two-year hiatus, he joined Bella Vista as soon as he was old enough to play in the Quinta División . At Bella Vista he also went through the teams of the Cuarta and the Tercera División. There he was also in midfield, but he was also used as a left defender. However, since he was soon again unable to pay the ticket to Montevideo, he moved to the Los Ceibos workers' club , which was based in his barrio and played in the Liga Regional del Sur . At Los Ceibos he was now playing as a striker and was also part of the first team for the first time. Finally his path led to Progreso . Before that, Morales worked in construction before beginning his career, for a year in a frigorífico and as so-called cuidacoches , a kind of security guard, in a cemetery. There was a station at Platense in the Divisional C . At that time he was unemployed, but at Platense he was given the opportunity to work from four in the morning until noon and to train in the evening. Coach San Pedro found a job in the Mercado Modelo . At Platense he reportedly scored twelve or 13 goals for his club and was then discovered by Humberto Schiavone , who signed him for Club Atlético Basáñez . There he stood there for a year, according to other information from 1997 to 1998, in the squad and scored 14 goals. From 1999 to 2002 his employer was Nacional Montevideo , who won the Uruguayan championship three times in a row during this period (2000, 2001 and 2002). At the beginning of January 2003, he moved to CA Osasuna in Spain , where he signed a contract until June 30, 2007. There he played until mid-2005, played in 50 league games, scored eleven goals and reached the final of the Copa del Rey 2004/05 with his team in his last season before joining league rivals Málaga FC . Shortly before the completed move to the club from Málaga , a transfer fee of around 1.5 million euros was available for the signature of a three-year contract, whereby his previous club Nacional should participate in the transfer proceeds. At Málaga he got out of the Primera División that season and stayed for another season. For Malaga he made 39 league appearances and scored three goals. Overall, Morales fell far short of the high expectations placed on him during his time in Spain and could not convince. Then he returned to Montevideo. There he was back in the Nacionals squad at Apertura 2007, which he was a member of until Apertura 2008. In the 2007/08 season he scored eight goals in 25 league appearances. In early September 2008 he left Uruguay on loan to Brazil . There he accepted an engagement with Grêmio Porto Alegre until the end of the year . In the following year, the Ecuadorian association LDU Quito is listed as a further career station from mid-February . Coach and compatriot Jorge Fossati intended to fill the gap left by the injury of Chilean Reinaldo Navia by signing Morale . However, he already joined Fénix in his home country in July 2009 . He did not end his career afterwards. Although he was without a club , he still played for the team of the Mutual Uruguaya de Futbolers Profesionales and was still hoping for offers at least at the end of 2010. At that time he also opened a place in Las Piedras called Botineras Disco Pub .

National team

For Uruguay , he completed from his debut on July 13, 2001 to his last appearance on November 16, 2005, 27 internationals, in which he scored a total of six times. He was part of the Uruguayan squad like at the Copa América 2001 and 2004 . With his two goals in Uruguay's 3-0 win in the qualifying duel against Australia, he was instrumental in qualifying his home country for the 2002 World Cup , in which he also took part.

successes

Others

After he had already been charged with incidents at the Clásico on November 26, 2000 in the Estadio Centenario and - alongside the Nacional players Mario Regueiro and Marco Vanzini , the Peñarol players Marcelo De Souza , Enrique De los Santos , Federico Elduayen , Martín García , Darío Rodríguez and Fabián Césaro and their coach Julio Ribas - had been sentenced to a ten-day or, according to the player, eleven-day prison sentence (along with a five-game ban imposed by the association), he was noticed again a little later in a similar matter. After a fight involving 14 people in the Oz Café in Las Piedras, in which he broke his opponent's nose, he was the focus of another trial in 2001. There, prison sentence was the subject of charges.
