Richard Vahrenkamp

Richard Vahrenkamp (born November 19, 1946 in Osnabrück ) is a German economist and logistics expert. He is a professor emeritus for production management and logistics at the University of Kassel .

Life

Vahrenkamp obtained his higher education entrance qualification in 1966 at the Ratsgymnasium Osnabrück and studied mathematics and economics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . At the University of Karlsruhe (TH) he received his doctorate in 1974 with a thesis on homogeneous cone images and cone-balanced growth , and in 1978 he completed his habilitation with a paper on growth processes in linear technologies . From 1977 to 1981 he worked on a project for innovation research at the Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in the Karlsruhe Research Center . In 1981 he became Professor of Operations Research, Logistics and Production Management at the University of Kassel and in 1998 Professor of Production Management and Logistics at the Department of Economics at the University of Kassel (now the University of Kassel ).

He is a member of the Scientific Commission on Logistics in the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration , co-editor of the journal Logistik Management and spokesman for the Kassel regional working group of the German Logistics Association.

Vahrenkamp stood out through numerous publications in the field of mathematical optimization, logistics and production management. In extensive studies of economic history , he examined the history of motorway construction and logistics service providers in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century or the development of Taylorism in the 19th and 20th centuries up to high-performance logistics in the 21st century. In the volume on Viennese Modernism , which he co-edited , he also devotes himself to the cultural and information technology development at the beginning of the 20th century. His expertise as a logistics expert is also in demand in the media, for example in the debate about the night flight ban at Frankfurt am Main Airport .

Vahrenkamp works in Berlin as a logistics consultant and as a lecturer at the Berlin School of Economics and Law .
