Richard von Seeckt

Richard August von Seeckt (born November 4, 1833 in Stralsund , † March 15, 1909 in Ulrichshöhe near Reichenbach ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

origin

Richard came from the Pomeranian noble family von Seeckt. He was the son of the Prussian Colonel Rudolf von Seeckt and his wife Emma Johanna, née Israel.

Military career

Seeckt first visited the cadet schools in Bensberg and Berlin. He then joined the 16th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on April 26, 1851 as a porter officer in charge and in mid-December 1852 was promoted to Second Lieutenant .

From January 27, 1890 to January 23, 1897 he was the commanding general of the V Army Corps , whose General Command was stationed in Poznan . He was previously the commander of the 10th Division .

Richard von Seeckt died in 1909 at the age of 75 and was buried in the Old St. Matthew Cemetery in Schöneberg near Berlin. The grave has not been preserved.

family

Since October 26, 1860, he was married to Auguste von Seeckt, the daughter of the President of the Appeal Court of Greifswald. The marriage had four children:
