Richtersveld ( English Richtersveld Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Namakwa district of the South African province of Northern Cape . The seat of the local government is in Port Nolloth . Mayor is Arthur Jansen.

The parish is named after the Dutch missionary Reverend W. Richter, who opened a mission station in Koeboes . The cultural landscape of Richtersveld is one of the sights .

In 2011 the community had 11,982 inhabitants. Of these, 76.6% were colored , 13.1% black and 8.5% white. 83.7 % of the speakers were Afrikaans, 5.9% IsiXhosa and 2.5% English.
