Kamiesberg ( English Kamiesberg Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Namakwa district of the South African province of Northern Cape . The seat of the municipal administration is in Garies . Mayor is Susarah Nero.

The community name is made up of the Khoi word for "fog" and the Afrikaans word for "mountain", hence the meaning as "fog mountain". The original spelling was Xheimes .

In 2011 the community had 10,187 inhabitants. Of these, 85.6% were colored , 8.1% white and 5.3% black. 91.8% Afrikaans and 0.9% English were spoken.
