Location of Riedersheim in Bavaria

Riedersheim is a part of the municipality of Bockhorn in the Erding district in Upper Bavaria . The place is three kilometers east of Bockhorn.

history

"Ruodrihhesheimun" appears for the first time in a Freising document from 972/76. In 972/76, Bishop Abraham von Freising exchanged "properties in Sollach, Maierklopfen and Riedersheim from the noble vassal of the church Ruodbert for others in Oppolding".

From 994 to 1005 under Bishop Gottschalk there was another swap with land to "Ruothrihesheim". In the 14th century the Schmatz or Schmaz sit in Riedersheim. In 1350, Cunrad Schmaz from "Riedershaimb" and Heinrich der Schmaz from Widdersdorf compared with Abbot Heinrich von Rott. 1443 "Two brothers who smack Ruedersheim" are recorded.

In 1238 a Heinrich von Ruthersheim can be proven. There have been different owners through the centuries, such as Balthasar Pötscher (Mayor of Munich) and the Barons of Imhof.

"Riedthaim" castle, copper engraving by Michael Wening around 1710

The seat of Riedersheim had belonged to the Neuching family since 1597 and had “a brick house or Gschlessl”. The list of court brands and seats from 1689 is listed by Riedersheim as "Hofgeschlosse Hofmark".

Around 1710 Michael Wening made a copper engraving of the "Riedthaim" castle for his "Description of the Elector and Duchy of Upper and Lower Bavaria (Historico Topographica Descriptio)". However, it has not been clarified whether the depicted actually represents Riedersheim bei Bockhorn, or whether it has been confused with either the castle of Riedheim in the Donau-Ries district or that of Riedheim in the Günzburg district.

From 1746 to 1832 the von Widnmann family owned the Hofmark.

In 1774 the castle and the castle chapel were demolished.

Architectural monuments

In the list of architectural monuments in Bockhorn (Upper Bavaria) , the former "small farmhouse" is recorded as a one-story whitewashed block building with a gable roof and a return from the first half of the 18th century.

In 2013, the archaeologist Harald Krause located the remains of a tower hill castle northeast of today's town.
