Rio ( Greek Ρίο ( n. Sg. ), Older name Ρίον Rhion or Rion ) is a city in the municipality of Rio in the municipality of Patras in the region of western Greece .

location

The city is located on the cape of the same name on the north coast of the Peloponnese in Greece . Administrative history

From 1912 until the territorial reform in 1997, initially as Agios Georgio Riou and from 1982 under the name Rio, the small town also formed a rural community. On the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 , this municipality became a municipality in the newly created municipality of Patras, where Rio has since formed the municipality of Rio.
