The Ethniki Odos 5 ( Greek Εθνική Οδός 5 , Greek for 'national road 5') is a national road in the region of western Greece . It connects Andirrio , at the northern end of the Rio-Andirrio bridge , with Ioannina in northwest Greece, it runs through Mesolongi , Agrinio , Amfilochia , ArtaΆρτα and Filippiada . The western part, between Amfilochia and Andirrio, coincides with the European route 55 , while the northern part to the system of the European route 951 . It ends on the east bank of the Ambracian Gulf . In future, a large part of the vehicles will be diverted to the Aftokinitodromos 5 , which is largely based on the course of the national road. The road is considered to be one of the most dangerous and poorly built roads in western Greece.
