The Ethniki Odos 67 / Εθνική Οδός 67 ( Greek for 'national road 67') is a trunk road in northern Greece that used to connect Thessaloniki to large parts of the peninsula and prefecture of Chalkidiki , especially the peninsulas of Sithonia and Kassandra . In the course of the further motorway-like expansion, the section south of Thessaloniki airport became part of motorway 25 . The designation as national road 67 was subsequently reassigned to a short feeder section from the motorway 25 to Thessaloniki airport .

Old course

The road led from Thessaloniki -Charilaou (extension of the street Leoforos Konstantinos Karamanlis or Odos Nea Egnatia from the center of Thessaloniki) first to the Kalamaria interchange , where it met the national road 16 (inner ring Thessaloniki). Together with this it went south to the airport of Thessaloniki. Here it separated from national road 16 and ran along the sea ( Thermaic Gulf ) a few kilometers from the coast to the southeast in the direction of Nea Moudania in Chalkidiki on the northern edge of the Kassandra peninsula . Between the Thermi junction and the Kardia junction, ridges are overcome - as a result, the national road 67 has a clear gradient here (up to 10%).

From the beginning in Thessaloniki to the junction Nea Kallikratia, the national road 67 was developed as an intersection-free motorway: 2 directional lanes each with 2 lanes and 1 hard shoulder. However, there is no hard shoulder from the Lakkoma junction. In the section from the Kalamaria junction to the Kardia junction, there are 3 lanes per lane. Depending on the underlying map series, it was designated as motorway 67 at least in the section Thessaloniki-Nea Kallikratia .

New course

In the course of the further expansion of the motorway or motorway-like road between Nea Kallikratia and Nea Moudania , the section of EO 67 from Kato Scholari to Nea Moudania is designated as Autobahn 25 . The connection to the northern part of Autobahn 25 from the Langadas interchange via Serres to Promachonas on the Bulgarian border is to be accomplished via the planned outer ring of Thessaloniki. This is also shown as Autobahn 25.

The section north of the airport is now only shown as National Road 16. The remaining 1 km long section of national road 67 was extended to the gates of the airport. Thus the national road 67 is now only a short feeder road from the motorway 25 to Thessaloniki airport .
