The Aftokinitodromos 25 / Αυτοκινητόδρομος 25 ( Greek for 'Autobahn 25') is a Greek motorway and connects the northern Greek metropolitan areas of Thessaloniki and Serres with the Bulgarian border. It runs from the southwest (Thessaloniki) to the northeast (Serres, Bulgaria). The motorway is a transverse or vertical axis to motorway 2 (Egnatia Odos). Your planning stage is complete and all sections are under construction.
When completed, Autobahn 25 will take on European route 79 , which was previously on national roads 12 and 63 .
As of September 2007, the construction costs for the A25 motorway amount to 350 million euros.
course
The A25 begins at the Serres / Langadas motorway junction north-east of Thessaloniki and north-west of Lake Koronia and leads in a north-easterly direction via Dorkada to Serres. The route of the existing national road 12 will be used for the most part . To the northwest of Serres, the A25 motorway will swivel to the north and follow the route of the national road 63 via Sidirokastro to Promachonas to the Bulgarian border. It is accompanied by the Thessaloniki-Serres-Sofia railway line. South of Promachonas, the A25 motorway will pass the Rupel Pass (or Roupel Pass) with Fort Roupel before crossing the Bulgarian border north of Promachonas. The city of Serres has no direct connection to the A25 motorway.
Planning
After the official numbering of the Greek motorways was published by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of the Environment, Regional Planning and Public Works in January 2008, the course of the A25 does not end at the Serres / Langadas motorway junction. According to this information, the A25 will continue on a shared route with the A2 to the Efkarpia / Titan motorway junction and then follow the outer ring of Thessaloniki around Thessaloniki, which is in the planning stage, south to Kato Scholari. The A25 will lead from Kato Scholari on the route of the meanwhile as A67 or national road 67 via Nea Kallikratia, Nea Moudania to Kallithea on the Kassandra peninsula (Chalkidiki).
