River Radamus (born February 12, 1998 in Vail , Colorado ) is an American ski racer . The three-time youth Olympic champion is currently part of the B-team of the US ski team and mainly competes in the super-G , giant slalom and slalom disciplines .

biography

As the son of Vail's long-time ski club director and former head of development for the US ski team, Radamus came into contact with skiing at an early age.

In November 2014 he contested his first two FIS races in the Rocky Mountains , and shortly afterwards he also made his debut in the Nor-Am Cup . After not being able to classify himself in the top field for the time being, he competed at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer in January 2016 . In Super-G, Combined and Giant Slalom, he won gold medals, in slalom he was eliminated. This made him the second skier after Marco Schwarz to win three titles in youth games and the first to do so in three individual disciplines. In the 2016/17 season he established himself with several top results in the Nor-Am Cup and won the silver medal in combination at his first Junior World Championship in Åre behind Loïc Meillard .

On December 3, 2017, Radamus made his World Cup debut in the giant slalom at Beaver Creek . As a result, he achieved his first three Nor-Am victories (Super-G, Combined and Giant Slalom) on three consecutive days in Panorama , which was the first time he took the lead in the overall standings. At the 2018 Junior World Championship in Davos , he won the silver medal in the Super-G. A year later, he won three medals at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Val di Fassa : gold in the Super-G and giant slalom, and silver in the team competition .
