The Rivière Rimouski is a river in the MRC Rimouski-Neigette ( Bas-Saint-Laurent administrative region ) in the Canadian province of Québec .
The river has its origin in the Monts Notre-Dame in the small lake Miller Lake on the other side of the provincial border in New Brunswick . From there it flows to the northeastern Lac Rimouski , which it flows through. It flows a little further north to the confluence with the Rivière Rimouski Est . Then he turns west. The upper reaches of the river are located within the Réserve faunique de Rimouski . The Rivière Rimouski changes direction again near the village of La Trinité-des-Monts . It now flows mainly in a northerly direction. To the southwest of Saint-Narcisse-de-Rimouski, the Rivière Rimouski flows through the Canyon des Portes de l'Enfer . Finally he reaches the town of the same name, Rimouski, on the south bank of the St. Lawrence River - estuary . The Rivière Rimouski has a length of 113 km. It drains an area of 1621 km². The mean discharge is 30 m³ / s.
Hydropower plants
On the southern edge of Rimouski near Autoroute 20 , Boralex has been operating a run-of-river power plant ( ⊙ ) with an installed capacity of 3.5 MW since 1996 . The fall height is 20.9 m.
