Robbin Crosby

Robbinson Lantz Crosby (born August 4, 1959 in San Diego , † June 6, 2002 in Los Angeles ) was an American guitarist and songwriter . He was a member of the Ratt group , to which he belonged from 1982 to 1991.

Early years

Crosby was born in the La Jolla neighborhood , north of downtown San Diego . Crosby was the son of the teacher and author Harry W. Crosby. He attended Mission Bay High School in San Diego, where he met Tawny Kitaen , with whom he moved to Los Angeles in 1981. Crosby played guitar in the band Phaenomenon in San Diego.

Rat

In Los Angeles, Crosby immediately joined the band Ratt, whose singer Stephen Pearcy was also from San Diego and whom he knew. Shortly before, Pearcy had already hired the musicians Matt Thorr and Jake E. Lee , who also came from his hometown, but left Ratt a little later. Thorr founded Rough Cutt , Lee became guitarist in Ozzy Osbourne's band . Together with Pearcy, Crosby was looking for new musicians for the band, in 1982 the first EP was created , which was released in 1983 under the title Ratt . Crosby recorded a total of seven albums with Ratt before leaving the band in 1991.

Private life

Crosby owned a house in the Hollywood Hills, and in 1987 he married Playboy playmate Laurie Carr, from whom he divorced in 1991. The marriage had remained childless. In 2001 he announced publicly that he had been HIV- positive since 1994 and suffered from the immunodeficiency disease AIDS . He died on June 6, 2002 at the age of 42, with various reports circulating as to the cause of death. In some cases, complications related to his illness were mentioned; in others, there was talk of a heroin overdose.
