Robert Balck

Robert Carl Joachim Friedrich Balck (born August 5, 1831 in Rostock , † January 31, 1907 in Güstrow ) was a Mecklenburg administrative lawyer and Oberlanddrost .

Life

Robert Balck was the son of the theologian and educator August Balck (1801–1881). From 1851 he studied law at the Universities of Göttingen, Berlin and Rostock. In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Hannovera Göttingen in 1852 . He joined the administration of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in the Toitenwinkel office as an official auditor in 1856 and, after a few transfers, became a bailiff in Grabow in 1870 . From 1876 to 1886 he was the governor in Hagenow . In 1886 he was transferred to the Güstrow- Rossewitz office as governor . He became Mecklenburg Drost in 1890, Oberdrost in 1899 and Oberlanddrost in 1906.

Balck had a particular interest in the Mecklenburg agricultural structure and was a member and honorary member of numerous agricultural commissions, federations and associations as well as the Association for Mecklenburg History and Archeology .

He was married to Luise Türk (* 1831), daughter of the 1852 relegated professor Karl Türk in Rostock. The marriage resulted in 1 son and 3 daughters. The financial lawyer Carl Wilhelm August Balck was a cousin.
